Tour Scotland Boxing Day Video East Neuk Dook 2012
Tour Scotland Boxing Day video shot on December 26th, 201, of The East Neuk Dook in Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. I shot a video of the Dook last year as well which you can view below, unfortunately, my video camera malfunctioned today, as you will see in the second half of this video. Sorry for the poor quality in that part of the video. This year the Dook was raising funds for SSAFA Forces Help, The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help. They are the national charity for those who serve in our Armed Forces, those who used to serve, and their families. Their commitment is to provide a lifetime of support to anyone who has ever served.
Tour Scotland Boxing Day video shot on December 26th, 2011, today of brave souls plunging into the harbour at the East Neuk Big Dook in Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. Some hardy, brave souls plunging into the harbour in my hometown today in Scotland. These folks were diving into the harbour on a very cold and windy day to raise money for a local hospital charity. They raised £5,200 today. Well done !! Dook, in Scots, means to go for a dip in water. The Anstruther Inshore Lifeboat was in attendance today when these folks plunged into the chilly depths of Anstruther Harbour for Charity. As always they did wonderful voluntary work for the local community on a cold and stormy day in the East Neuk of Fife. Well done lads, and lasses. Very proud of these folks, all the more since this is the where I was raised in Scotland.

Tour Scotland Christmas Day Video Glencoe Scottish Highlands
Tour Scotland Christmas Day video of Glencoe, Scotland. This Scottish glen is considered to be one of the most spectacular and beautiful places in Scotland. The name Glen Coe is often said to mean Glen of Weeping, perhaps with some reference to the infamous Massacre of Glencoe which took place there in 1692. In fact the Glen is named after the River Coe which runs through it, and bore this name long before the 1692 incident. Glen Coe was originally part of the lands of Clan Donald, though since the ending of the clan structure they progressively sold off their estates. Early in the morning of the 13th of February, 1692, in the aftermath of the Glorious Revolution and the Jacobite uprising of 1689 led by John Graham of Claverhouse, a massacre took place in Glen Coe, in the Highlands of Scotland. This incident is referred to as the Massacre of Glencoe which began simultaneously in three settlements along the glen, Invercoe, Inverrigan, and Achnacon, although the killing took place all over the glen as fleeing MacDonalds were pursued. Thirty-eight MacDonalds from the Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed by the guests from the Campbell Clan who had accepted their hospitality. They were killed on the grounds that the MacDonalds had not been prompt in pledging allegiance to the new monarchs, William and Mary. Another forty women and children died of exposure after their homes were burned.

Tour Scotland Winter Video Rain Long Pier St Andrews
Tour Scotland Winter video of part of a walk in the rain down the long pier towards St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. The pier is a classic example of Scottish vernacular harbour work. It comprises a pier of rubble construction, with a substantial bulwark on its seaward face, to protect the wide quay from high seas in heavy weather. The course of the pier is somewhat crooked, reflecting the strategy of the builders to construct it from strong point to strong point along the natural rock skerry which forms its foundation. The drystone, rubble construction of this pier gives it great character and the surfaces reveal many examples of repairs to the pier, using a variety of different strategies for placing the stones.

The Ossian's Hall folly was built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the River Braan for the 2nd Duke of Atholl in 1757. James Murray, 2nd Duke of Atholl KT PC, born 28 September 1690, died 8 January 1764, was a Scottish peer, and Lord Privy Seal. He was born in Edinburgh, the third son of John Murray, 1st Duke of Atholl, by Lady Catherine, daughter of William Hamilton, Duke of Hamilton. In 1712, he was made captain of the grenadier company of the 1st Foot Guards. On the attainder in 1715 of his elder brother, William Murray, Marquess of Tullibardine, for taking part in the Jacobite rising, an act was passed by parliament vesting the family honours and estates in him as the next heir. At the election of 1715, he was chosen M.P. for Perth, and he was re-elected in 1722. In June 1724, he was made Lord Privy Seal. He was allegedly the first to plant European Larch in Great Britain; one of a group of five near Dunkeld cathedral planted in 1738 is still alive. He died in Dunkeld on 8 January 1764, in his seventy fourth year, and was buried at Inveresk.
