Tour Scotland video of the old church by the sea in St Monans, East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. St Monans Church is situated within its kirkyard just to the west of the village on the very edge of the sea. It has a very dramatic setting, perched on a low rock, reached over a small valley with a burn. As seen from most directions it has the sea as a backdrop. A more modern cemetery stands further westwards on the upper slopes of the little hill. This contains the local war memorial. Standing at the extreme west end of this a romantic ruin can be viewed across fields, again perched on the sea edge. It is often said that St Monans is the church nearest the sea in the whole of Scotland.

Tour Scotland Photograph May Robertson Gravestone Kinnoull Perth Perthshire

Tour Scotland travel photography of the May Robertson Gravestone on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Kinnoull Graveyard in Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. Erected by Alex Mackie, Bridgend, Perth, in memory of his wife May Robertson, who died in the month of June 1802. She was a loving wife, a tender parent, and a faithful friend.

Many of my tour guests are researching their Scottish Roots. The graveyard located by the River tay is well worth a visit, consisting as it does of many 17th and 18th century gravestones, including that of the ferrymen who worked the River Tay crossing between 1621 and 1772. The graveyard is also the resting place of "Euphemia (Effie) Chalmers Gray (1828 to 1897) the wife of the critic John Ruskin who later left her husband to marry his protege, the Pre-Raphaelite painter John Everett Millais.
