It is famous for its landscape and its remarkable mountains including; Quinag, Canisp, Suilven, Cul Mòr, Stac Pollaidh, and Ben More Assynt. Tour Scotland Video The Slave's Lament Robert Burns Song Burns Night Perthshire

Tour Scotland video of two young Scots singing a song by Robert Burns on Burns Night at the Taybank Pub on visit to Dunkeld, Highland Perthshire, Scotland. It is wonderful to see young Scots singing the songs of Robert Burns. In this video Laurie Cameron is the singer, accompanied by Hannah Fisher on violin. Well done the lasses.

The Slave's Lament.

It was in sweet Senegal that my foes did me enthral,
For the lands of Virginia,-ginia, O:
Torn from that lovely shore, and must never see it more;
And alas! I am weary, weary O:
Torn from that lovely shore, and must never see it more;
And alas! I am weary, weary O.

All on that charming coast is no bitter snow and frost,
Like the lands of Virginia,-ginia, O:
There streams for ever flow, and there flowers for ever blow,
And alas! I am weary, weary O:
There streams for ever flow, and there flowers for ever blow,
And alas! I am weary, weary O:

The burden I must bear, while the cruel scourge I fear,
In the lands of Virginia,-ginia, O;
And I think on friends most dear, with the bitter, bitter tear,
And alas! I am weary, weary O:
And I think on friends most dear, with the bitter, bitter tear,
And alas! I am weary, weary O:

In this scene Tam is on horseback and is being chased by Nannie the witch. He is just able to escape her by crossing the bridge narrowly avoiding her attack as she is only able to grab the horse's tail which comes away in her hands.

Old Photographs Stromness Orkney Islands Scotland

Old photograph of Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland. First recorded as the site of an inn in the 16th century, Stromness became important during the late 17th century, when England was at war with France and shipping was forced to avoid the English Channel. Ships of the Hudson's Bay Company were regular visitors, as were whaling fleets. Large numbers of Orkneymen, many of whom came from the Stromness area, served as traders, explorers and seamen for both. Captain Cook's ships, Discovery and Resolution, called at the town in 1780 on their return voyage from the South Seas where Cook had been killed. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.

Tour Scotland Photographs Balcomie Castle Crail East Neuk Of Fife

Tour Scotland photograph of Balcomie Castle by Crail, East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. A sunny, though chilly afternoon near Balcomie Castle which is Fife's most easterly castle. Perhaps its most famous brush with history took place on the 12th of June 1538 when Mary of Guise landed at nearby Fife Ness. She decided to stay at the castle while couriers were sent to James V who was 10 miles up the road in St Andrews. He didn't hang about and promptly arrived at Balcomie to collect his future bride and escort her into St Andrews.
