Alexander " Sandy " Herd, born 24 April 1868, died 18 February 1944, was a Scottish professional golfer from St Andrews. Herd was the club professional at Huddersfield Golf Club from 1892 to 1911. In 1902, he won The Open Championship at Hoylake. When he was 71. He died in London, England. Herd's brother Fred won the 1898 U.S. Open.

James, born 6 February 1870 in in Earlsferry,, East Neuk of Fife, died, 27 November 1950. was a Scottish professional golfer and a member of the Great Triumvirate of the sport alongside Harry Vardon and John Henry Taylor. Old photograph of Edward VIII Prince Of Wales driving on the 1st Tee on the Old Golf Course in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David; born 23 June 1894, died 28 May 1972, was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Empire, and Emperor of India, from 20 January 1936 until his abdication on 11 December 1936. Edward was the eldest son of King George V and Queen Mary. He was created Prince of Wales on his sixteenth birthday, nine weeks after his father succeeded his own father, Edward VII, as king. As a young man, he served in the British Armed Forces during the First World War and undertook several overseas tours on behalf of his father. At the Club’s General Meeting on 2 May 1922, it was announced that His Royal Highness Edward, Prince of Wales, had accepted the invitation to become Captain of the The Royal and Ancient Golf Club.
