Old photograph of a steam train arriving at the railway station in Slamannan located six miles East of Cumbernauld, Scotland. The Salamannan Railway was built firstly to give access for minerals from pits in the Slamannan area to market in Glasgow, over connecting railways, and Edinburgh, over the Union Canal, and it also briefly provided an early passenger connection between Glasgow and Edinburgh in association with other railways and the canal.

Old photograph of staff outside the railway station in Kintore near Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. This train served as a junction between the main line, and an abandoned branch to Alford. It is now closed due to major post-war British rail cutbacks.
James Park, born 1857, died 1946, was a Scottish geologist, director of school of mines, university professor and writer, active in New Zealand. He was born in Kintore. His son Air Commodore Sir Keith Park had a distinguished career in the Royal Air Force in two world wars.

Old photograph of golfers on the 17th Green on the golf course at Machrie, Islay, Scotland. The Machrie Links hosted a famous match in 1901 between James Braid, John Henry Taylor and Harry Vardon for a prize of £100, reputed to be the largest prize of its kind at that time in the British Isles. Harry Vardon called Mount Zion, now the 17th hole, but originally the first hole, " the hardest hole I have seen ".
