Old Photograph Post Office Stromness Orkney Islands Scotland

Old photograph of staff outside the Post Office in Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland. Before formal postal infrastructure, mail arrived in Stromness via " post boats," which were small open vessels, approximatel. 20 feet long, traveling from Caithness to Longhope. Delivery was irregular and depended heavily on weather and the condition of rough island roads.

Old Photograph Railway Station Langbank Scotland

Old photograph of a steam train in the railway station in Langbank located nine miles North of Paisley, Scotland. This train station is on the Inverclyde Line, 16 miles west of Glasgow Central. On Mondays to Saturdays there is a half hourly service eastbound to Glasgow Central and westbound hourly to both Gourock and Wemyss Bay. On Sundays, there is an hourly service in each direction westbound to Gourock.
