Spring Drive From St Monans To Anstruther East Neuk Of Fife Scotland

( While keeping a Social Distance you can still drive and take a walk during the Coronavirus Pandemic keeping yourself out of close contact with other people ) Originally founded as a fishing village, Anstruther is home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum. Its main industry is now tourism. Thomas Chalmers, was born in Anstruther on 17 March 1780, he was a Scottish minister, professor of theology, political economist, and a leader of both the Church of Scotland and of the Free Church of Scotland. He has been called " Scotland's greatest nineteenth century churchman. " David Martin was born on 1 April, in Anstruther, he was a Scottish painter and engraver, he studied in Italy and England, before gaining a reputation as a portrait painter. John Goodsir was born on 20th March 1814, in Anstruther, he was a Scottish anatomist. He was a pioneer in the formulation of cell theory. Henry Duncan Spens Goodsir, was born on 3 November 1819, in Anstruther, he was a Scottish physician and naturalist who contributed to the pioneering work on cell theory done by his brother John Goodsir. He served as surgeon and naturalist on the ill-fated Franklin expedition. His body was never found.
