Old Photograph Library Ayr Scotland

Old photograph of the Carnegie Library in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland. Funding for this library was provide by Andrew Carnegie, born November 25, 1835, died August 11, 1919, who was a Scottish American industrialist who led the enormous expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century. He was also one of the highest profile philanthropists of his era. He was born in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, in a typical weaver's cottage with only one main room, consisting of half the ground floor which was shared with the neighboring weaver's family.

Old Photograph Golf Clubhouse St Michael's Fife Scotland

Old photograph of the clubhouse on the golf course at St Michaels by Leuchars near St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. When the club was formed in 1903 the services of the keepers of the green at St Andrews were employed to lay out the course. Both Old Tom Morris and Hugh Hamilton had a hand in creating the course.
