Old Photographs Moffat Scotland


Old photograph of Colvin Fountain, Moffat, Scotland. William Colvin of Craigielands, Beattock, Scotland, built this fountain in the middle of Moffat in 1875. The architect of the fountain is listed as Mr Brodie of Edinburgh.

Old Photographs High Street Moffat Scotland


Old photograph of cars buildings and Hotel on the High Street, Moffat, Scotland. A former burgh and spa town in Dumfries and Galloway by the River Annan. The Devil's Beef Tub near Moffat was used by the members of Clan Moffat and later the members of Clan Johnstone to hoard cattle stolen in predatory raids. The town is held to be the ancestral seat of Clan Moffat.
