Scotsman Walking Wearing Kilt In Garden On Spring History Visit To Ferniehirst Castle Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K Spring travel video clip of a Scotsman wearing a Kilt and Sporran and walking by daffodils and flowers in a garden on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Ferniehirst Castle, Borders, Britain, United Kingdom. It is a 15th century stronghold and the historic ancestral seat of the Clan Kerr. Sir Thomas Kerr of Smailholm built the original castle on the banks of the Jed Water after marrying Margaret Kerr of Kersheugh. Due to its strategic location, it was often targeted. English forces took the castle in 1523 and again in 1549, before being retaken by Scottish French forces. King James VI ordered the castle's destruction in 1593 due to the family supporting the rebellious Earl of Bothwell, but it was rebuilt by Sir Andrew Kerr in 1598. After falling into disrepair in the 18th century, it was restored. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.
