Scottish Ambulance Responding To Emergency Bridgend Perth Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland Spring Sunday travel video of an Scottish Ambulance with paramedics, during the Coronavirus Pandemic, responding to an emergency and moving swiftly through Bridgend on visit in Perth, Perthshire. I saw the vehicle in my rear view mirror and remained stopped at the traffic lights to let it past. Ambulances are allowed to break the speed limit, run traffic lights, go the wrong way through one way streets, etc. But, the one rule they must always follow, is that they must practice " due regard for safety. " Other road users should stop until the emergency vehicle has passed. In 1948 the newly formed National Health Service contracted two voluntary organisations, the St Andrew's Ambulance Association and the British Red Cross, to jointly provide a national ambulance service for Scotland. The service was known as the St Andrew's and Red Cross Scottish Ambulance Service. The Red Cross withdrew from the service in 1967; the service was renamed the St Andrew's Scottish Ambulance Service. In 1974 the service was taken over by the NHS, the title being shortened to the Scottish Ambulance Service.
