Road Trip Drive With Music On History Visit To High Street Kinross Perthshire Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K early Autumn travel video, with Scottish music, of a short road trip drive along the High Street on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Kinross, Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. For centuries, the High Street prospered due to travel connectivity, dating back to 1798 when the first mail coach linked Edinburgh and Aberdeen through Kinross. Around 1600, the first modest County Hall was built on the High Street to serve as a courthouse. It was later repaired and given a prominent bowed frontage in 1771 by the famous architect Robert Adam. The heart of the High Street is anchored by a 1751 Clock Tower, salvaged from the former 1742 Parish Church, and the 1869 neoclassical Town Hall. In 1826, a grander neoclassical courthouse designed by Thomas Brown was erected further north on the High Street. Early cutlery and linen manufacturing eventually gave way to a booming 19th-century textile economy. By 1860, over 600 people worked in local wool-weaving mills. This expertise evolved until the late 20th century, when Kinross became a globally renowned hub for premium cashmere spinning. The name Kinross stems from the Gaelic ceannrois, meaning " the head of the promontory," which originally pointed to the site of the ancient parish church overlooking Loch Leven.
