Sunny Winter Road Trip Drive To Newtyle Angus Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of a sunny Winter road trip drive, on narrow Scottish roads, with music, East through rural Perthshire on ancestry visit to the war memorial in the village of Newtyle, Angus. The memorial was designed by George Carnegie from Dundee and built by John Gray and Sons of Newtyle in 1920. The memorial is in the form of an obelisk about 19 feet high, commemorates the men of Newtyle who fell in the First World War. It was unveiled by the Earl of Strathmore. On the two sides are the following names: David Glenn Anderson, Robert Bain, Duncan Beaton, George Bell, Alex Brown, Andrew Cant, Frank Couper, James Couper, Alex Fleming, Fre Geekie, R.J.H. Johnstone, John McKenzie, William McLaren, Andrew McQueen, James McQueen, George Mann, Benamin Milne, Alex Millar, David Michell, Alex Spence.
Headed by Pipe Major A. Lamond, a procession of Boy Scouts, ex soldiers, and the general public marched to the site of the memorial. Reverend Robert Wood, Parish Church, presided at the unveiling ceremony, and a prayer was offered by Reverend Walker, U.F. Church.
