Tour Scotland Self Catering Holiday Cottage Recommendations Plockton

Tour Scotland self catering holiday cottage recommendations in Plockton in the Highlands of Scotland.

Plockton Rhu Cottage, built in the 1800s, was originally a cooperage providing barrels for the Plockton fishing trade. Later in that century an upper floor was added making it a typical one and a half storey traditional Highland cottage. Now refurbished, it still retains its original character, providing a cosy and relaxing village retreat away from bustle and hubbub. The Lounge, Kitchen/Diner and the windows in both Bedrooms all face the beautiful sea loch that is Loch Carron. Whether sitting outside, or in the porch with a cup of tea or a glass of wine in inclement weather, you are assured of magnificent views across the garden and open grassland to Plockton Bay, Duncraig Castle and the Plockton Crags. Plockton Village, known as The Jewel of the Highlands, is the perfect base to stay, being ideal for walking, fishing, hill climbing, photography, boating and water-sports or just quietly watching the wildlife.

Drumbeg, 19 Harbour Street, Plockton is an 1860s terraced house with four bedrooms and sleeps eight or nine adults. A downstairs bedroom has a double bed, and of the three upstairs bedrooms, one has a double bed and the others twin beds. Additionally there is a fold away bed and two children’s cots. Duvet covers are provided but we prefer guests to bring their own together with their own pillowslips, sheets and towels although these can be provided by arrangement.

The Sidings is situated in a row of 40 year old cottages, adjacent to Plockton station. It is a very comfortable, cosy home. It is particularly handy for spectacular walks to the beaches close by. Locals and visitors have been known to swim their even in September. The house is a few minutes walk from the centre of Plockton with gorgeous views of the Crags towering over the village. There are very good eating places that serve local seafood and other local produce. The house consists of a spacious dining kitchen, a warm living room with reclaimed Victorian fireplace. Outside there is a small back garden with a leafy green outlook and a larger front garden with a picnic bench.

MacAulay Cottage is a charming self catering family home, located on a quiet residential road. It has a private enclosed garden over looking green field where you can sit and enjoy the tranquility and peaceful atmosphere of the Highlands. A five minute walk will take you to the picturesque harbour and local attractions. Boat trips to go seal watching, beautiful walks and excellent eating places.

Off the Rails is nestled above the village of Plockton with the Cuillin of Skye as a backdrop. Located by Pockton Station it offers a truly unique holiday experience providing all that discerning holidaymaker could be looking for. Built in 1887 on the famous Inverness to Kyle line, Plockton is a working but unmanned station. The station building has been tastefully refurbished preserving wonderful Victorian features and architecture but rewired with all the technology guests have come to expect, such as complimentary wireless broadband, LCD televisions, DVD players and a music system with iPod docking station.
