Old photograph of a passenger bus to Saline in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. Unlike larger towns, Saline was a " hinterland " community that the iron road railways bypassed. When the motor bus emerged in the 1920s and 30s, it " hoovered up " local traffic that trains couldn't efficiently reach, bridging gaps in the public transport system.
