Old photograph of the paddle steamer Tug, Lord Derby in Brucehaven harbour in Limekilns near Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. Brucehaven harbour, formerly known as Capernaum, originated in the 18th century. The boat was named after Edward George Villiers Stanley, 17th Earl of Derby, born 4 April 1865, died 4 February 1948, styled Mr Edward Stanley until 1886, then The Hon Edward Stanley and finally Lord Stanley from 1893 to 1908. He was a British soldier, Conservative politician, diplomat, and racehorse owner. He was twice Secretary of State for War and also served as British Ambassador to France.
