Old photograph of the Post Office in Rosewell near Bonnyrigg, South East of Edinburgh, Scotland. This colliery village was established by Archibald Hood, mining engineer and entrepreneur, who developed the Whitehill Colliery from 1856, which was located on the south western edge of the village. He began a new shaft at the colliery in 1878, built railways for the mines, branching from the Peebles Railway, and erected well-designed houses for the miners, and also encouraged the establishment of a Co-operative Retail Society.

Old photograph of houses on Abbots Road in Grangemouth, South of Stirling, Scotland. In 1872 responsibility for municipal affairs passed from the Dundas family to a new burgh council in Grangemouth and soon the marks of civic pride began appearing all over the prosperous town. Fine new churches of various denominations, public buildings and schools graced the elegant streets with Bo'ness Road, Charing Cross, Abbots Road, Talbot Street, and Ronaldshay Crescent among the most attractive. Here the well to do merchants and traders built high quality homes while ensuring that the working population in Marshall and Lumley Street had good houses as well. By the turn of the century the population was over 8,000 people.

Old photograph of a thatched cottage by Claggan Bay, Island of Islay, Inner Hebrides, Scotland. The UNITY, a 12 ton ship, with no cargo and a crew of three, whose Captain was McRoy, of Belfast, was bound from Belfast to Islay on 8 Oct 1906 when she anchored at Claggan Bay. The ship dragged her anchor and drifted ashore five miles south of MacArthurs head Lighthouse. All the crew were saved.

Old photograph of the cottage tearoom in Dundonnell located North of Ullapool, Scotland. Dundonnell is a village on the south side of Little Loch Broom at the foot of An Teallach mountain, right at the north of the area commonly known as the Great Wilderness. There is an independent youth hostel and a farm. Many semi wild sheep roam the area, which is the most inland point of the loch. The Ardessie Falls pour into the loch nearby. Local wildlife includes cormorants, lesser black backed gulls and song thrushes.

Old photograph of the War Memorial in Wigtown, Scotland. Wigtown gives its name to the county of Wigtownshire. Wigtown was made a royal burgh in 1469 although a settlement here existed long before this. The burgh is mentioned in an indenture of 1292, and the fact that the sheriffdom was in existence at the time of the Largs campaign of 1263 suggests that the burgh may also have been recognized as such during the reign of King Alexander III.
