Tour Scotland Video Bagpipes And Drums St John's Kirk Perth Perthshire
Tour Scotland travel video of the sight and sounds of Pipers and bagpipes music outside St John's Kirk on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Perth, Perthshire. A Pipe Band and a solo Piper. St John's Kirk is a late medieval building on the site of an important 12th century church. The Kirk was the scene of John Knox's famous sermon in 1559 which launched the Scottish Reformation. The church was dedicated to St John, and this dedicated gave Perth its first name, St Johnstoun. Within only a few decades St John's must have gained a considerable reputation and prestige, for when King Alexander III died in 1286 his heart was buried here.

Tour Scotland Video Mini Kelpies Balhousie Castle Perth Perthshire
Tour Scotland travel video of the Mini Kelpies on ancestry history visit and trip to Balhousie Castle in Perth, Perthshire. The 10 feet high horse heads, also known as Maquettes, were sculpted by renowned sculptor Andy Scott who made the famous Kelpies at Falkirk. The sculptures are a tribute to the history of working horses of Scotland. The maquettes have travelled the world with stops at New York and Chicago in the USA, and at the Scottish Parliament buildings in Edinburgh.

Tour Scotland travel video of the Earl Wavell Gate on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Balhousie Castle in Perth, Perthshire. The gate pays tribute to Field Marshal Archibald Percival Wavell, who spent 43 years as a soldier with the historic Black Watch regiment, with four of these as a colonel.

Tour Scotland video of Abbotsford House by Galashiels near Melrose on ancestry visit to Roxburghshire, Scottish Borders, Scotland. Abbotsford is the house built and lived in by Sir Walter Scott, the 19th century novelist, and author of timeless classics such as Waverley, Rob Roy, Ivanhoe and The Lady of the Lake. The garden is compact, fragrant, colourful and detailed. It is contained within high walls, with the facades of the house setting a scene which could be straight out of one of Scott’s historical romance.

Though the summer solstice is an instant in time, the term is also colloquially used like midsummer to refer to the day on which it occurs. The summer solstice occurs on the day that has the longest period of daylight.
