Old photograph of people and shops on South Bridge Street in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. Airdrie developed as a market town in the late 17th century following an act of Parliament allowing it to hold a weekly market. It later grew in prominence as a centre for weaving and manufacturing.

Old Photograph Farmers' Market Perth Perthshire Scotland


Old photograph of the Farmers' Market in the city centre of Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. In the Middle Ages Perth had weekly markets. It also had annual fairs. In the Middle Ages fairs were like markets but they were held only once a year and they attracted buyers and sellers from a wide area. These days the market has between 15 and 30 stalls selling a range of local seasonal produce including fresh meat; fruit & vegetables; seafood; oils dressings, takes place the first Saturday of every month in King Edward Street, Perth, Scotland from 9am until 2pm.

Tour Scotland Video Bagpipes And Drums Dunfermline Fife



Tour Scotland video of bagpipes and drummers in the town of Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. Including Dunfermline Pipe Band, drums and solo pipers. Andrew Carnegie was born in the town in 1835. Among the gifts he gave to his home town, include a free library and public swimming baths. Most important of all, was the donation of the Pittencrieff Estate which he had purchased in 1903 to be converted into Pittencrieff Park. In 1888, two Dunfermline men, John Reid and Robert Lockhart, first demonstrated golf in the US by setting up a hole in an orchard, before Reid set up America's first golf club the same year, St. Andrews Golf Club in Yonkers, New York, with Andrew Carnegie one of the first members.
