Old Photograph Vulcan Bluejackets Funeral Procession Dundee Scotland


Old photograph of a Vulcan Bluejackets Funeral Procession in Dundee, Scotland. H.M.S. Vulcan was completed as a second class torpedo boat carrier, but was converted to a submarine depot ship before the Great War. Vulcan converted to a depot ship in 1908.She was commissioned in that role at Chatham on 5 January, 1909. In mid 1913, she was in Dundee supporting a the " C " class submarines of the Seventh Submarine Flotilla. She continued serving with the Seventh Submarine Flotilla from 1914 to 1916, then for various flotillas at Humber, Berehaven and Blyth, England.

Old Photograph Lawn Bowling Green Stewarton Scotland


Old photograph of bowlers on the lawn bowling green in Stewarton in East Ayrshire, Scotland. Stewarton is on the Annick Water in a rural part of northern Ayrshire, about 6 miles to the North of Kilmarnock and to the East of Irvine. In the past, Stewarton served as a crossroads between the traditional routes from Kilmarnock, Irvine and Ayr to the city of Glasgow.

Old Photograph Doctor Grigor Statue Nairn Scotland


Old photograph of the Doctor Grigor statue in Nairn, Moray, Scotland. An ancient fishing port and market town around 16 miles east of Inverness. It was the county town of the wider county of Nairn also known as Nairnshire. Doctor Grigor, born 1814, died 1886, was a local doctor and Mayor, who bequeathed much of his wealth to the people of Nairn.
