Known locally as simply as " Nethy " the village has, since Victorian times been a tourist destination noted for its quiet and secluded location at the edge of the Abernethy Forest. It is situated in the heart of Strathspey in the Highlands of Scotland between Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey. Old Photograph School Spean Bridge Scotland

Old photograph of the school in Spean Bridge, Scotland. This Scottish village, in the Great Glen, takes its name from the Highbridge over the River Spean on General Wade's Highlands military road between Fort William and Fort Augustus. The Highbridge Skirmish on 16 August 1745 was the first engagement of the Jacobite Rising of 1745. Old Photograph Spey Street Kingussie Scotland

Old photograph of buildings and church on Spey Street in Kingussie, Scotland. The main railway line to Inverness passes through from Edinburgh, Glasgow and points south. Kingussie railway station is about 200 yards south east of the High Street. In the past few years, the TV series Monarch of the Glen has been filmed in and around the area of Kingussie. Ardverikie Estate, where Monarch of the Glen was filmed, is about 12 miles from Kingussie.

Old photograph of Ballancleroch House in Campsie Glen, Scotland. The house was built in 1665, on the estate which had been purchased in 1620 by Patrick M'Farlan and remained in the hands of his descendants in the 1870s.
