The Kilchoman Cross, also called Cill Chomain Cross, is a fourteenth century Celtic cross standing at the cemetery by the Kilchoman Old Parish Church. The cross is one of the best medieval crosses in the Western Highlands and Islands. Old photograph of people, houses and hotel on Quay Street in Ullapool, Scotland. Ullapool is a village in the Scottish Highlands. On the east shore of Loch Broom, Ullapool was founded in 1788 as a herring fishing port by the British Fisheries Society. It was designed by Thomas Telford. The harbour is still the edge of the village, used as a fishing port, yachting haven, and ferry port. Ferries sail to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides. The village lies on the A835 road from Inverness. The Ullapool River flows through the village. Old photograph of a horse and cart, children, shops and buildings on McCaslin Street in Glasgow, Scotland. Macauslan, Macausland, Macauselan, Macauslane, Macauslin, Maccaslane, Maccausland, Macaslan, Macasland, Maccasland, Macaslin, Maccasline: means " son of Absalon." The first use of the surname as recorded appears to be Absalon, son of Macbed, or Macbethe, a churchman, to whom a charter of the island called Clarines, Clarinch in Loch Lomond, later the gathering place of Clan Buchanan was granted by Maldoun or Maldouen, third earl of Lennox, in 1225.
