Old photograph of a steam train leaving Tayport, Fife accross from Dundee, Scotland. The railway station at Tayport opened originally in 1848 under the auspices of the Edinburgh and Northern Railway; it was the northern terminus. The line was extended to East Newport in 1878 and to Wormit and Dundee on 13 May 1879. It closed in 1956 for passenger trains to Leuchars and 196 for all traffic. Old photograph of a ferry boat entering the harbour at Tayport, Fife, across from Dundee, Scotland. Traditional references date a ferry back to at least 1050, when Macduff, the Thane of Fife, is said to have fled across the river Tay to escape Macbeth.

Old Photograph Cruickness Fife Scotland
Old photograph of houses at Cruickness by Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland. Cruickness was the landing spot for Parliamentary troops under Major General John Lambert during the English Civil War, part of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. They crossed from Leith, landed here, and proceeded to defeat Royalist forces.

Old photograph of the Sir Walter Scott monument in Selkirk, Scottish Borders, Scotland. Sir Walter Scott was appointed Sheriff Deputy of the County of Selkirk in 1799, and was based in the Royal Burgh's Courthouse in the town square. The Sir Walter Scott Way from Moffat to Cockburnspath passes through Selkirk. Old Photograph Road To Isleornsay Isle Of Skye Scotland
Old photograph of the narrow road to Isleornsay on the Isle Of Skye, Scotland. The village is located off the main Armadale to Sleat road. It overlooks, but is not upon, the island of Ornsay. The island itself shelters one of the best natural harbours in southern Skye. The location was exploited from the 18th century or earlier by the MacDonalds who owned this part of Skye.
