Old Photograph Steam Train Leaving Tayport Fife Scotland

Old photograph of a steam train leaving Tayport, Fife, across from Dundee, Scotland. The railway station at Tayport opened originally in 1848 under the auspices of the Edinburgh and Northern Railway; it was the northern terminus. The line was extended to East Newport in 1878 and to Wormit and Dundee on 13 May 1879. It closed in 1956 for passenger trains to Leuchars and 196 for all traffic. Blog post of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.
