Old Photograph Bridge of Brown Scotland


Old photograph of cottages at Bridge of Brown near Grantown On Spey, Scotland. The Bridge of Brown, which lies at the head of Glen Brown, once carried the Coupar Angus to Fort George military road over the Burn of Brown. Built in 1754, the bridge has a single span and is constructed of slabbed rubble masonry.

Old Photograph Wilton Dean Scotland


Old photograph of Wilton Dean, Scotland. A permanent settlement appeared on the banks of the Cala Burn in the 15th century, known then as Langlands Dean. The name officially changed to Wilton Dean in 1861. Wilton Dean is the setting for the novel The Cottagers of Glenburnie by Elizabeth Hamilton, which was inspired by an 1808 visit to the area. A Scottish village on the A7, in the Borders area on the Cala Burn, and close to the River Teviot. It is now often considered to be a suburb of Hawick which is situated very close to the village.

Old Photograph Mansion House Rouken Glen Scotland


Old photograph of the Mansion House, Rouken Glen, South West of Glasgow, Scotland. Rouken Glen is a park in Giffnock, East Renfrewshire. Rouken Glen Mansion, which was also known as Thornliebank House, was built by the Smith family as their home. The mansion and estate were later acquired by the Crum family and a daughter, Margaret, lived at Birkenshaw Cottage, with her husband William Thomson, later Lord Kelvin, born 1824, died 1907. The mansion was used by the army during World War II and, having fallen into disrepair, was demolished in 1963.

Old photograph of Kirkfieldbank, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. This is a small village and parish in Scotland, on the banks of the River Clyde, close to the town of Lanark, and the village of New Lanark. The village has an old bridge built by Thomas Telford.
