Old photograph of shops, houses and people in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Stonehouse is located on Avon Water in an area of natural beauty and historical interest, near to the Clyde Valley. It is also situated on the A71 trunk road between Edinburgh and Kilmarnock, close to the towns of Hamilton, Larkhall and Strathaven. South Lanarkshire is one of 32 unitary authorities of Scotland. It borders the south east of the City of Glasgow and contains some of Greater Glasgow's suburbs. It also contains many towns and villages. It also shares borders with Dumfries and Galloway, East Ayrshire, East Renfrewshire, North Lanarkshire, the Scottish Borders and West Lothian. It includes part of the historic county of Lanarkshire.

Old Photograph Millheugh South Lanarkshire Scotland


Old photograph of Millheugh, Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Larkhall sits on high ground between the River Clyde to the East and the Avon Water to the West, on the edge of the Clyde valley and is a commuter town for Glasgow. Traditionally a mining, weaving and textile area, most of Larkhall's traditional industries have now shut, including the Lanarkshire iron and steel works.
