Old Photograph Mansion House Rouken Glen Scotland


Old photograph of the Mansion House, Rouken Glen, South West of Glasgow, Scotland. Rouken Glen is a park in Giffnock, East Renfrewshire. Rouken Glen Mansion, which was also known as Thornliebank House, was built by the Smith family as their home. The mansion and estate were later acquired by the Crum family and a daughter, Margaret, lived at Birkenshaw Cottage, with her husband William Thomson, later Lord Kelvin, born 1824, died 1907. The mansion was used by the army during World War II and, having fallen into disrepair, was demolished in 1963.
