Tour Scotland photograph of Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh, Scotland. Edinburgh girls used to " meet the dew " on Arthur's Seat, where they would wash their faces in the dew on May 1st to beautify themselves. Arthur's Seat is the main peak of the group of hills which form most of Holyrood Park, a wild piece of highland landscape in the centre of the city of Edinburgh, about a mile to the east of Edinburgh Castle.

Old Photographs Tom Morris St Andrews Scotland


Old photograph of the famous golfer, Tom Morris, on the Old Golf Course in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. Old Tom, born in 1821, began life as a nobody,he was the son of a weaver and a maid. But he was born in St. Andrews, the cradle of golf, and the game was in his blood. He became the Champion Golfer of Scotland, a national hero who won tournaments, and huge bets, while his young son looked on. As Keeper of the Green at the town's ancient links, Tom deployed golf's first lawnmower and banished sheep from the fairways.
