Tour Scotland photograph of Stanley Mills, Perthshire, Scotland. The mill mostly produced cotton but also cigarette ribbon. The Dempster Company was established in 1787 by seven men including Richard Arkwright, the inventor in Derbyshire of cotton-spinning machinery, George Dempster and William Sandeman to build the mill on land feuded from the Duke of Atholl to provide employment to Highlanders affected by the clearances. Stanley Mills received the Sandford Award for Excellence from The Earl of Wessex. A former cotton mill, which played a key role in Scotland’s Industrial Revolution, has been recognised for educational excellence in its first year of opening as a visitor attraction.

Tour Scotland photograph of a Scottish Rainbow over Balcomie Links, near Crail, Scotland. The 7th Oldest Golf Club in the world. Golfing legend Old Tom Morris laid out the original nine holes at Balcomie in 1895.

Tour Scotland Photography Kilconquhar Church East Neuk of Fife


Tour Scotland travel photography of the church on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Kilconquhar, East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. This cruciform church was built between 1819 and 1821, adjacent to an earlier church. It was designed by Richard Crichton and built by R and R Dickson. The church is situated on high ground in the centre of the village, overlooking Kilconquhar loch to the south. The graveyard which is still in use, surrounds the church. The oldest stones are found around the old parish church to the east of the present church which it predates, and there are some interesting eighteenth century memorials towards the south east corner of the cemetery.
