Tour Scotland Winter Photograph Pictish Tower Abernethy Perthshire


Tour Scotland Winter photograph of the Pictish Tower in Abernethy, Perthshire, Scotland. The tower stands 74 feet high, and it is possible to climb to the top, using a modern metal spiral staircase, the tower originally had several wooden floors linked by ladders. The tower was evidently built in two stages, shown by a change in the masonry, and probably dates to the 11th century.

December 29th Photograph Almost Blue Moon Scotland


December 29th photograph of " almost a blue moon, " seen above Kinnear's Inn, Scone, north of Perth, Scotland. A Blue Moon occurs when two full moons happen in one calendar month and we're due for one above Scotland on New Year's Eve, 2009. There won't be another blue moon until August 31st, 2012 and the next blue moon to occur on New Year’s Eve won't be until 2028.
