The tollbooth is a three storey building with a clock dating to 1887 at the top. Queensferry, also called South Queensferry or simply " The Ferry ", is a town to the west of Edinburgh, traditionally a royal burgh of West Lothian. It lies some ten miles to the north west of Edinburgh city centre, on the shore of the Firth of Forth between the Forth Bridge and the Forth Road Bridge. The prefix South serves to distinguish it from North Queensferry, in Fife, on the opposite shore of the Forth.
