Old photograph of Fishwives in Eyemouth, Scotland. A thriving herring port in the nineteenth century, Eyemouth had 61 registered fishing boats and over 40 foreign boats in 1891 and Eyemouth Kippers were once as famous as Arbroath Smokies.

Old Photograph of Eyemouth Harbour Scotland


Old photograph of fishing boats by the harbour in Eyemouth, Scotland. Eyemouth is small town and parish in Berwickshire, in the Scottish Borders. Many of the features of a traditional fishing village are preserved in the narrow streets and vennels, giving shelter from the sea and well suited to the smuggling tradition of old.
