Tour Scotland short 4K early Autumn travel video clip of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and sporran and walking by St Ninian's Cave on secluded Port Castle Bay Beach on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to the coast of Dumfries And Galloway, Britain, United Kingdom. Long-standing tradition holds that this quiet coastal retreat served as a private hermitage and place of prayer for Saint Ninian, Scotland's earliest known Christian missionary, in the late 4th or early 5th century. While its direct link to Saint Ninian cannot be fully proven, historical evidence strongly indicates it was used as a spiritual retreat by 6th to 7th century monks from the nearby Whithorn monastery. The dramatic, atmospheric coastline here was used as a filming location for the 1973 cult horror movie, The Wicker Man. During the Middle Ages, the bay served as a prominent landing site for pilgrims arriving by sea from England and the Isle of Man. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome. Meteorological Autumn or Fall is different from standard and astronomical Autumn and begins September 1 and ends November 30
