Also known a Tràigh Seilebost it is a stunning white sand and turquoisewater coastal stretch defined by traditional crofting heritage, vast tidal sandflats, and surrounding machair grasslands. The adjacent tiny settlement of Seilebost is a traditional crofting township. Historically, much of the west coast of Harris saw population shifts during the Highland Clearances when local inhabitants were moved to make way for cattle grazing. The beach experiences a massive variance between low and high tides, exposing broad, shallow sandflats where the water mixes dynamically with the sand. Walkers are cautioned to stay on firmer upper sand due to localized pockets of quicksand on wet low tide flats.
