Burn is a Scots word for a stream or small river. From Gillingshill nature reserve the burn flows South passing Arncroach and then South East past Balcaskie Estate. The burn continues East flowing under the bridge at Dreelside and through Anstruther and out into the Firth of Fortthrough Anstruther and meeting the Firth of Forth on the coast.
