King Magnus Barefoot claimed Kintyre as part of his "islands" in 1098, marking a significant point of Norse influence. Evidence suggests early settlement in Kintyre, with Mesolithic flint workers arriving around 7000 B.C. and the Neolithic Period bringing farming to the area.
