Tour Scotland 4K Winter travel video, with Scottish accordion music, of a road trip drive East on the A94 route, from Perthshire on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to the Queen Mother Memorial Gates on ancestry visit to Glamis Castle, Angus, Britain, United Kingdom. The gates mark the beginning of the mile long straight driveway North to Glamis Castle, the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother who died in 2002 at the age of 101. They were erected in her memory and were opened by her grandson, Prince Charles Duke of Rothesay, who is now King Charles, on April 21st 2008. The structure was designed by Lachlan Stewart and apart from the gates themselves, consist of pillars in a pinkish Wattscliffe Sandstone with two lion rampants on either side. The pillars are engraved with the eight royal burghs of Angus and the date of the unveiling. The Queen Mother`s coat of arms is prominent at the top of the gates in the centre. In 1900, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was born, the youngest daughter of Claude Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and his wife, Cecilia, née Cavendish-Bentinck. She spent much of her childhood at Glamis, which was used during the First World War as a military hospital. She was particularly instrumental in organising the rescue of the castle's contents during a serious fire on 16 September 1916. On 26 April 1923 she married Prince Albert, Duke of York, second son of King George V, at Westminster Abbey. Their second daughter, Princess Margaret, was born at Glamis Castle in 1930. By the meteorological calendar, the first day of Winter is always 1st December in Scotland; ending on 28th of February.
