Tour Scotland very short 4K wildlife nature camera travel video clip of the sight and sounds of a Heron bird fishing in the River Tay on visit and trip to Perth, Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. Heron birds are unmistakeable: tall, with long legs, a long beak and grey, black and white feathering. Grey herons are characteristically seen waiting patiently, stock still, for prey on lakeshores, coastlines and along the sides of rivers or estuaries. The grey heron bird has a graceful slow flight pattern with typically bowed wings. In flight, it pulls its neck into the body while stretching its legs out behind creating a very distinctive silhouette. The word heron is rather old and of uncertain origin. It appeared in the English language around 1300, originating from the Latin aerius meaning aerial. Widely distributed across most of Scotland, herons are rarer in Shetland and Orkney. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
