Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Munlochy, Scottish Gaelic: Poll Lochaidh, a tiny remote village in the Black Isle in Ross and Cromarty. There are few early records of a settlement, but it seems likely that Munlochy expanded in the 1760s due to quarry workers extracting stone nearby to build Fort George on the far side of the Moray Firth. Munlochy railway station was on the Highland Railway's Black Isle branch line between Muir of Ord and Fortrose. In common with other stations on the line, Munlochy station opened on 1 February 1894 and closed to passenger on 1 October 1951, although the line itself wasn't finally closed until June 1960.
