Tour Scotland 4K travel video, with Scottish bagpipes music, of a road trip South on the A87 on ancestry visit to the East Coast of the Isle of Skye, Inner Hebrides, Britain, United Kingdom, passing Loch Sligachan, Loch Ainort and Loch na Cairidh which extends south east from the mouth of Loch Ainort and is almost pinched to a closure at the Caolas Scalpay a few miles North of Broadford. The island has been occupied since the Mesolithic period, and its history includes a time of Norse rule and a long period of domination by Clan MacLeod and Clan Donald. The 18th century Jacobite risings led to the breaking up of the clan system and subsequent Clearances that replaced entire communities with sheep farms, some of which also involved forced emigrations to distant lands. Resident numbers declined from over 20,000 in the early 19th century to just under 9,000 by the closing decade of the 20th century. The main industries are tourism, agriculture, fishing and forestry. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. When driving in Scotland slow down and enjoy the trip.
