Tour Scotland short 4K Winter snow travel video, with Scottish music, of Glen Doll on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Angus, Britain, United Kingdom. In the late 1800s, wealthy sheep farmer Duncan MacPherson bought Glen Doll and attempted to block public use of Jock's Road, a historic drove route. John "Jock" Winter, a local shepherd, advocated for public access, leading the Scottish Rights of Way Society to take the case to the House of Lords. In 1888, the Society won, affirming the public's right to use the path and establishing a significant precedent for Scottish access law. The name " Doll " likely derives from the Pictish word dol, meaning " haugh " or " meadow ". The glen served as a vital transit point for Jacobite forces. In 1746, roughly 700 Highlanders crossed through the area on their way to the Battle of Culloden.
