Tour Scotland 4K travel video, of a road trip drive, with Scottish music, on a single track road with passing places on the North Coast 500 route on ancestry visit to the Strathnaver, Scottish Gaelic: Srath Nabhair, area of the North Scottish Highlands, Britain, United Kingdom. Strathnaver was the name of an ancient province also known as the Mackay Country, Scottish Gaelic: Dùthaich MhicAoidh, once controlled by the Clan Mackay. The area was badly afftected by the Highland Clearances. Meat was in high demand for the growing population in the south, and Britain’s woollen mills were expanding fast. Large scale sheep farming. promised far greater profits than the tenants here could offer in rent. Some people even suggested that the evictions were for the good of the tenants. Few of the people forced to move would have agreed. The clearances happened all through Strathnaver, and all across Northern Scotland. By 1870, all the suitable land in this part of Scotland Sutherland had been put to sheep farming, and the traditional communal Highland way of life had all but disappeared. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome. When driving on Scottish roads in Scotland slow down and enjoy the trip
