Tour Scotland 4K travel video of a road trip drive, with Scottish music, from Ceres, East on the B939 road to the West Port on ancestry visit to historic St Andrews, Fife, Britain, United Kingdom. The road from Ceres crosses the Ceres Burn twice to reach Pitscottie, where it is crossed by the B940 road. The road now climbs out of the valley to cross a ridge and descend into another valley. This section of road is remarkably straight and so passes to the South of Strathkinness rather than detouring north to pass through the village. Eventually the road reaches the suburbs of St Andrews. It runs along Buchanan Gardens and reaches a mini roundabout in the centre of town where we then reach the West Port. Packed with history, tradition and scenic views, St Andrews is a real Scottish gem. This small city is set on the coast of Fife to the north east of Edinburgh. It's only an hour away from Edinburgh so you could easily take a day trip, but it's worth taking your time. The West Port of St Andrews was built in 1587 as a monumental entrance to the city’s South Street. It was less a defensive structure than it was a symbol of civic pride. Its design is based on that of the Netherbow in Edinburgh, which, in turn, was modelled on Paris’s Porte Saint-Honore. The gate was extensively refurbished in 1843. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome
