Dreich Road Trip With Music To Visit Blair Athol Distillery Pitlochry Highland Perthshire Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K travel video of a dreich, which is a Scots word for dull and cloudy weather, road trip drive, with Scottish fiddle music, North on the A9 road to visit the Blair Athol Whisky Distillery in Pitlochry, Highland Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. Blair Athol Distillery distills Blair Athol single malt whisky. It is used in Bell's whisky. The distillery was founded in 1798 by John Steward and Robert Robertson, originally named Aldour, after the Allt Dour burn the distillery draws it water from, but closed soon after opening. The distillery opened again and changed ownership to John Robertson in 1825. The distillery closed down in 1932. The mothballed distillery was bought by Arthur Bell and Sons, but didn't open again until it was rebuilt in 1949. The A9 is a major road running from central Scotland to Scrabster Harbour, Thurso in the far north, via Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Perth and Inverness. At 273 miles, it is the longest road in Scotland and the fifth longest A road in the United Kingdom. Historically it was the main road between Edinburgh and John o' Groats, and has been called the spine of Scotland. Drive with great care and patience on this road as it regularly appears in lists of Scotland's most dangerous roads. . Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. When driving in Scotland slow down and enjoy the trip All photographs are copyright of Sandy Stevenson, Tour Scotland, and may not be used without permission.
