Spring Road Trip Drive With Music From Doune On History To Dunblane Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K travel video of a Spring road trip drive East on the A820 road through Doune on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit Dunblane, a town in the council area of Stirling. Bonnie Prince Charlie passed through Doune in 1745. Throughout the parish the Clan names most often met with are Campbell, Stewart, Ferguson, Morrison, McAlpine, McLaren, MacDonald, Mathieson and Cameron. Doune was also famous for its manufacture of pistols, but this eventually ceased due to the competition of manufacturers in, for example, Birmingham where production was cheaper. Allegedly a Doune pistol fired the first shot of the American War of Independence. Doune has often been used as a filming location, most famously for Monty Python and the Holy Grail which was filmed at Doune Castle. The castle has also been used for major TV series, most notably Ivanhoe, Game of Thrones and Outlander. Dunblane is an Ancient cathedral city and former burgh on the Allan Water north of Stirling. The present Dunblane Cathedral, dedicated to St Blane, dates from the 13th century, with restorations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The town is situated off the A9 road which has been bypassed since 1991, on the way north to Perth, Perthshire.
