Tour Scotland 4K travel video, with Scottish music, of the interior of St John the Baptist Episcopal Church on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Perth, Perthshire. It is located on Princes Street, at its junction with Canal Street, in the South East corner of the city centre. The Pulpit dates from 1851 and is of Caen stone. The panels, depicting scenes from the life of John the Baptist were added in 1872. They are the work of Mary Grant who was born in Kilgraston, Perthsire. Her maternal grandfather was the seventh Earl of Elgin, her aunt was Mary Anne Grant, a portrait and landscape painter and her uncle was Sir Francis Grant, a highly successful portrait painter and President of the Royal Academy who was born in Edinburgh. She died on the 20th of February 1908. This Scottish church was designed by John Hay, William Hardie Hay and James Murdoch Hay, three brothers from Liverpool, England, who had undertaken commissions for several Presbyterian churches. Hence its rectangular shape and galleries, rather than the traditional Anglican layout of Sanctuary, Chancel and Nave. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
