Ben Lui is the highest and most famous of a group of four Munros that lie south of Glen Lochy, and about seven miles North of the top end of Loch Lomond. It is the tallest peak in a line of four, Beinn a’ Chleibh, Ben Lui, Ben Oss and Beinn Dubhchraig, that zig-zags East to West between Tyndrum and Crianlarich. The name Ben Lui is derived from the Gaelic for hill of the calf. Munros, are mountains in Scotland with a height over 3,000 feet. Munros are named after Sir Hugh Munro, 4th Baronet, born 1856, died 1919, who produced the first list of such hills.
