Tour Scotland travel video, with Scottish music, of Strathy Point on visit to thr North coast of Sutherland in the Highlands. Strathy Point was the first lighthouse in Scotland, specifically built to be electrically operated. It was initially planned in 1953 and was completed by 1958. The lighthouse was fully automated in 1997 and is now telemetered from the Northern Lighthouse Board Headquarters in Edinburgh. Strathy, from Scottish Gaelic Srathaidh meaning place of the strath is a scattered community in Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands.
