Sand Dune Bay On Visit To The North Coast Of Sutherland Highlands Of Scotland

Tour Scotland travel video clip, with Scottish music, of Sand Dune Bay on visit to the North coast of Sutherland in the Highlands. Melvich Bay is a small, sheltered bay close by the border of Caithness. The shoreline of the bay has a broad, sandy beach, turning to shingle beneath the western headland, where there is a pier serving the village of Portskerra on the headland. Melvich, from the Norse Mel Vik, meaning sand dune bay, is also known in Scottish Gaelic as: A' Mhealbhaich. It is situated near the A836 road, near the mouth of the River Halladale. The A897 road which runs from Helmsdale, through the Strath of Kildonan and past Kinbrace, terminates at Melvich.
