Tour Scotland travel video of a Spring road trip drive on rural A823 country road, with Scottish bagpipes and drums music, on visit to the War Memorial in Auchterarder, Perthshire. The memorial is of Portland stone construction with Bronze plaques and a bronze wheel cross at the top. It is located in the graveyard of the church (on the site of the nave of The Old Parish Church which was demolished in 1904. World War 1 Roll of Honour Includes; Private John Eadie, served in the 6th Battalion of the Black Watch Royal Highlanders. He died on 28 October 1915 in France at the age of 22 and is buried in St Stephen cemetery. Private Michael Manning served in the 6th Battalion of the Black Watch Royal Highlanders. He died on 13 August 1915 in France at the age of 19 and is buried in Corbie Communal Cemetery. He was the son of Cornelius and Annie Manning, OF Stinnoull Place, Auchterarder. In 1328, Robert the Bruce gave the town of Auchterarder to the Montifex family who later passed it on to the Drummonds as part of a dowry. Disaster struck in 1715, when the settlement was destroyed by the defeated Jacobite soldiers retreating from the Battle of Sheriffmuir. The A823 is a lengthy route which crosses Fife and the small counties of Perth and Kinross and Clackmannan, and ends in Perthshire.
